BARKA Foundation from Burkina Faso

On July 30th, 2011 the co-founder of the BARKA Foundation from Burkina Faso in West Africa – Esu Anahata – visited Barka UK premises in London. The Foundation was established in 2005 by an American couple Ina and Esu Anahata. It is based on voluntary work. The organisation summarizes their work in three words: PEACE, WATER AND WISDOM.

Esu shared the story of establishing the Foundation in Burkina Faso, one of the poorest countries in the world. Through his inspiring stories Burkina Faso, its people and challenges became closer to us. Esu spoke about a shortage of clean water and diseases that it causes. Esu and Ina are in the process of developing a project which will enable each family in Burkina Faso to receive a water filter made of clay and sawdust/nut shells so that children and adults have an access to clean water.Esu was touched with the life stories of the Barka UK Leaders and accepted our invitation to visit Barka in Poland. Esu was very interested in the concept of social economy and how to transfer it to Africa. There are many common areas of synegry between the two Barkas. ‘Barka’ is an African word of gratitude, blessing and reciprocity. Link for the Barka Foundation in Burkina Faso:
